Libby Hill has been around for over 50 years, so if you're
a native of Guilford County, NC chances are you know a little
something about us. You know that we cook up some of the
best
seafood in the area, and you know that every Libby Hill Restaurant
is a family-friendly kind of place.
Those things remain the same, but over the years we've made
some changes. There have been menu changes, all spurred by
customer requests for things like boiled shrimp and broiled
and grilled selections. We've added chicken and steaks to
the menu, too. There are new restaurants in new locations.
Libby Hill continues to grow and change. But after nearly
fifty years, one thing remains the same: Libby Hill is the
place to go for terrific seafood. For those of you who are
new to the area, here is the Libby Hill story.
Luke Conrad opened the first Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant
back in 1953. The building, an old roadhouse that had been
padlocked by the sheriff because of bawdy activities, was
situated on the corner of Hwy. 220 North (Battleground Avenue)
and New Garden Road, out in the country, north of Greensboro.
While that restaurant has been moved to a location about
two blocks north on Cotswold Avenue, it is still going strong,
and some of our original customers are still "regulars"
there today. Greensboro has grown since then, and so has
Libby Hill. That first restaurant is in the city limits
now, and there are twelve other Libby Hill restaurants scattered
across North Carolina and Virginia.
In the old days, every Libby Hill entree was fried. (In
1953, nobody worried about cholesterol.) Today, you will
find broiled selections and grilled selections. Our fried
seafood is cooked in 100% pure vegetable oil. Eating healthy?
In 2003, Libby Hill Seafood partnered with the Moses Cone
Health Care System to provide healthy eating choices for
cardiac patients.
This program led to the MCHeartWise selections
on our menus.
Over the years our menu selection has evolved as well. Chicken
and steaks have been added to the menu, and there are appetizers,
soups, salads and desserts. Fish, Shrimp, and Chicken Sandwiches
have become very popular with our customers. You can dine
in the cheerful, wholesome atmosphere of a Libby Hill dining
room or relax at home with a cooked-to-order take-out meal.
Libby Hill restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, and
most are open seven days a week. (The restaurants on High
Point Road in Greensboro and on Main Street in High Point
are closed on Sunday.)
The Conrad family still runs Libby Hill, currently in its
third generation! Even if it's been years since your
last visit to Libby Hill, you will find that there are plenty
of things that haven't changed -- things like fresh,
delicious food, service that is fast and friendly, and tremendous
value. And Libby Hill is still a family-friendly kind
of place, so kids (and grand-kids, of course) are welcome
here.
So if you are hungry for terrific seafood, steak or chicken,
we invite you to stop in sometime and try Libby Hill.
